Yesterday was the first day of summer and for some people, summer means going fishing! When I was a kid my grandpa took me to Lake Shabbona to fish with a bamboo pole. So in honor of PawPaw, I made a “Gone Fishin'” free summer printable that you can download at the end of the post.
A simple sign in a driftwood colored frame.
The fish print is in neutral colors so it can go with any decor.
I added a few coastal items to create a summery fishing vignette. PawPaw and I mostly caught Blue Gills at Lake Shabbona. I still can’t believe I used to put my own worm on the hook. I guess he taught me well.
Wooden fish and a starfish join a fishing buoy in front of old books in colors of the sea … blue and green.
I love the shades of blue and green that conjure images of the sea.
The wooden fish garland is a new acquisition. They join another wooden starfish and vintage books in a color reminiscent of sand.
Even if you don’t like to fish, you can still enjoy my free summer printable. I found the fish graphic at The Graphics Fairy and then simply added a background along with the text, Gone Fishin’ – Be Back at Dark Thirty.
My grandkids went fishing with their dad on Father’s Day and this is a photo he took.
My daughter had to work during the day but joined them later in the afternoon for other activities.
Halloween! It’s a fun day that kicks off the season of holidays! This year I decided to do more to make this spooky event fun for the kiddos in our neighborhood. I decorated baby boo pumpkins to set out on the porch. See how to make your own! I confess I’ve never attempted to…
Halloween. That magical evening when gentle fall breezes tickle colorful leaves making them dance down the street while children in spooky costumes are outside bewitching their neighbors for tricks and treats. Inside, I’m watching Jamie Lee Curtis scream for her life in “Halloween” with all the lights off and candles in the window, pausing the movie only to…
Do you start to crave green, living things this time of year? I miss the leaves on the trees, the flowers in the yard, and the vegetables in the garden. I have a tendency to start buying house plants midway through winter to satisfy my earthy craving for greenery. I try to find pretty containers…
Yesterday was Friday the 13th and as I was getting ready to create a new blog post, my laptop crashed and burned! It made a loud pop and died. Permanently. So I ran to Best Buy to get a new laptop which left me with no time to create a new post. So I’m re-publishing…
Most people enjoy live plants in their home, but they don’t have any because they’re afraid they’ll kill them … and then what’s the point? Add a little greenery to your home by decorating with succulents. They’re an easy plant to grow and come in a wide variety of shapes and shades of green. To…
When I hit a home decorating creative block, I have a few sources I turn to for inspiration. Pinterest is one of them! The other day I was searching for spring crafts and came upon the cutest birdhouses made out of scrapbook paper. I’ve always loved paper crafts and thought these DIY paper birdhouses would…
Cute printable Jennifer! My son loves the fishing aspect of summer too! We go to a friend’s farm/garden that has 1 little ponds and he grabs the branch fishing pole, some worms, and catches blue gills like crazy! The record is 39 in 5 minutes haha! Last time I told him catch and release because those blue gill have hardly any meat on them… basically unless a big bass bites, he has to throw it back now. But it sure is fun for kids! Such fun memories this printable evokes!
I haven’ t been fishing forever, but I love it. I spent many a day fishing at my Granddaddy’s pond. It was always so peaceful and fun too! Love your printable. Thanks, Jennifer!

Such a cute summer sign and vignette and such a sweet way to honor your PawPaw. It made me smile and remember us cousins fishing on our PopPop’s dock whenever we gathered there. Didn’t do much swimming though ‘cause PopPop had a little “pet gator” that he fed everyday!
