Summer Decorating Ideas for the Dining Room

With all the beauty that summer has to offer, you probably find yourself wanting to enjoy it both indoors and out. For me, summer decorating means bringing sunlight and fresh flowers into my home. Today I’m sharing summer decorating ideas for the dining room.

A simple lace swag is draped over a branch from the yard for a fuss-free window treatment. I’ve made sure the curtain doesn’t block any part of the window so ample sunlight floods the room.

The weather was fabulous and I enjoyed every minute!

French Lavender and Bees Balm - Town and Country LivingDried lavender fills the white enamel pitcher and fills the room with a lovely, light scent perfect for summer.  The small glass milk bottle contains what I think is Bee’s Balm. It has a sweet scent and I had to fight off a bee while arranging these on the front porch.

Summer Wildflowers in White Ironstone Pitchers via Town and Country LivingHere’s an important tip when putting fresh flowers in white ironstone – Put the flowers in a mason jar (or similar) filled with water and place the jar inside the pitcher. Sometimes the water will discolor the ironstone pitcher if left inside for too long.

For a casual look, cut the stems at slightly different lengths and then loosely place in a pitcher or vase. This arrangement contains only one type of flower in slightly varying shades. It took just minutes to create.

A simple country basket adds a bit of interest atop the cabinet. Inside the cabinet, I tucked some sage in an aqua bottle tied with a lace ribbon.

I think the best summer decorating ideas are the ones that are easy and don’t take a lot of time, so you can spend more of your day enjoying this beautiful time of year!

  6. Your dining room looks beautiful, Jennifer! I love the sunlight streaming in, your white furniture, all the white pieces, and the cherry on top ~ those flowers. It has been so hot and humid here I’ve had the shades closed the past few days trying to keep things a bit cooler. It’s hard for me because usually one of the first things I do in the morning is open the shades to let the sun in. Hopefully, the humidity is supposed to break by Sunday.

  7. Your home reflects all that I think of during the hot summer months. Crisp white walls that keep us cool if only in our mind’s eye.. sweet bouquets of flowers here and there. I love that you and your husband had a date in a golf cart! What a guy to know what makes your heart go pitty-pat by stopping here and there letting you out to enjoy summer’s glory! Ahhhhhh……!!

  8. Oh Jennifer your dining room is beautiful! It’s amazing how pretty Gods weeds like Queen Anne’s Lace are. Your home looks like a beautiful vacation cottage where everyone wants to be!!
