How to Make a Eucalyptus Wreath

One of my favorite scents is eucalyptus. For as far as I can remember, I’ve always had a eucalyptus wreath in my home.  I think they’re pretty all on their own and don’t need further embellishment. But if you want to add a little color to the greenery, simple flowers or a bow will do the trick. Today I’m sharing how to make a simple eucalyptus wreath.

For some reason I always thought wreath-making was too hard. Or rather, I always felt like I didn’t have the skill set for it. But if you keep it simple, a wreath is really quite easy to create. And this one smells soooooo good!!

 

You can use fresh or preserved eucalyptus, but keep in mind the fresh greens will dry out. You can use fresh eucalyptus if you’re making the wreath for a special occasion like a wedding or bridal shower. Otherwise choose preserved greens. You’ll also need a wire wreath form and lightweight florist wire. If you’re adding color, you’ll want ribbon and some flowers too.

 

Separate your stems and trim off any ends without leaves. Cut wire into 6″ strips using wire cutters.

 

Working with one stem at a time, attach the eucalyptus to the wire wreath form by wrapping the florist wire around the stem and the wire of the frame. You’ll only need to secure the stem in about 3 places. When you’re all done, your hands will smell like eucalyptus!

 

The stems are pretty pliable and easy to work with. The worst part of this project is wrapping the florist wire around and around. The ends of the wire are sharp so be careful when working.

 

Now comes the fun part of adding flowers. You can simply add sprigs and stems by poking them between the eucalyptus stems and the wire wreath form. Or, you can secure them onto the frame by using the florist wire.

 

Add a pretty ribbon and let the ends drape down along the edges of the wreath.

 

At the last minute I decided to hang these pretty heart charms from the top of the wreath.

I think I’m going to make another eucalyptus wreath for the upstairs bathroom.
