Crafting the Perfect Cozy Corner: Your Ultimate Spot for Comfort and Serenity
Another change in seasons is just a couple weeks away, and with the cooling of days, it’s time to look inside your home and find a spot for the perfect cozy corner. Shorter days means more time spent inside and it’s nice to give your home a quick refresh before fall settles in. You might already have a cozy corner for reading, knitting, or watching movies. Consider adding a new element. And if you don’t already have that special place in your home, use this collection of photos to inspire you!
The perfect chair is a great place to start when you create your own special spot in the home. If you plan to spend a lot of time here, go ahead and splurge on a great piece of furniture. Don’t forget to add a reading lamp and a soft lap blanket.
Â
If you have the space, incorporate a daybed into your “me-time” corner. Scour for a vintage one at the flea market or second-hand shops, or purchase something new that fits your home aesthetic. This corner features plantation blinds at the window that can be shuttered if it gets too sunny.

Heidi Caillier is one of my favorite designers and created this cozy corner in one of her interior decorating projects. A chair is a great place for adding color and pattern to a room, so don’t be shy when selecting that perfect piece to read a book or watch your favorite movie. Add a ottoman for ultimate comfort!

An intimate corner in the house doesn’t have to be limited to just one chair. To create more interest, mix and match patterns and subtle corners.

A chaise lounge creates the ultimate, intimate corner in an unused corner of this Victorian home. You can almost imagine a soft snow falling outside while enjoying a cup of tea indoors on the pink tufted beauty.

Think about nearby props when you create your cozy corner. Here, a bookcase provides plenty of reading material. But you could also store knitting or crochet supplies in the bottom half of the cabinet. Add a favorite pillow for lumbar support.Â

This windowed corner is meant to be shared. Enjoy a snack or drink at the corner table while watching a billiards game. You could even enjoy an intimate dinner here – by yourself or with someone else.Â

A pair of rocking chairs also works great for adding a relaxing corner to any room. Arts and Crafts style rockers enhance the richness of the wood book shelf while a small table provides a place to rest drinks or snacks.

Do you have a stairway landing or unused spot in a hallway? Tuck an upholstered chair there that invites you to enjoy its soft comfort. I love the mix of patterns in this space – the floral wallpaper, the windowpane fabric on the arm chair, and the geometric pattern of the area rug.Â

Finally, don’t forget about the porch! A hanging basket swing begs to be enjoyed on a cool, crisp autumn day with a fire roaring in the fireplace.Â

You’ve probably got more than one spot in your home that can be turned into a cozy corner for enjoying “me-time.” It’s always nice to have your own special spot to get away from it all!

I love the idea of a cozy reading corner but noticed many of your pictures did not include a lamp A good reading light is essential and always try them out to make sure they don’t have a glare and can be adjusted to your reading area.
Love adding a soft throw just in case you get a bit sleepy.
I do have a cozy place to sit and read. I loved the pink chaise, that truly would be cozy.
